When it comes to exploring the attractions in Cefalu, every corner is filled with nothing but beauty and sheer elegance. The fishing port, which is quite ancient, is overshadowed by a splendid Norman cathedral nestled right beneath the Rocca, a large limestone crag. Cefalu offers something for everyone, whether it's a day at the beach watching the waves, or strolling around absorbing all the sights. One of the top attractions in Cefalu is the Festa di San Salvatore, which takes place during the first weekend of August, from the 4th to the 6th. Hundreds of men partake in the traditional barefoot dash, the Corsa degil Scalzi, between San Salvatore and Cabras. The run is spread over two days and commemorates an event in 1506 when the townspeople hurried to save a statue in San Salvatore. This statue, the Holy Savior, was from the Moorish sea raiders. Cefalu, Italy, is rich in traditions, but the most popular one is the Ntinna a Mari. This is one of the most thrilling events to witness in Cefalu, as all the locals enjoy participating. Cefalu is renowned for its fishing ports, which are a sight to behold in themselves, but this tradition is something that should not be missed while visiting or residing there. These events kick off on Saturday, with everyone participating dressed in white and barefoot, accompanying the statue along an eight-kilometer path leading to San Salvatore. However, this is just the halfway point. The following day, they reverse their route and take the statue all the way back to Cabras, where it is safely kept in the Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta. This festival holds immense significance for the people of Cefalu and is not one to be missed.
